Marcus is the latest single from RP Tha Chozen 1’s album The Harvest.
This is a song that was easy to write, but has been difficult for me in terms of divulging its inspiration.
The characters in the song are based on real people. People that I love and have loved. The truth is I don’t know if I’m ready to be this vulnerable, but recording the song has forced my hand.
The circumstances in this story are real for many people. You may think that Marcus is the main character, but the emphasis should be on Kayla. Abandoned by her father, ignored by her mother and the loss of her little brother add to the torment that she attempts to appease daily with drugs and a never-ending search for attention.
Why did I write Marcus? Because I needed to get it off my chest and it’s a story that needs to be heard.
