Praverb the Wyse: Honoring the Life of Patrick McNease

Praverb the Wyse

It’s with great sadness I share this bit of news…

Patrick “Praverb the Wyse” passed away this week of currently unknown causes. We’re deeply saddened for his family. He was a great man who loved his family and especially his young son. He was a loving husband to his wife Vanessa. The photo included with this post shows just how much he cared for his family.

One of the greatest qualities about Praverb was has passion for selflessly serving others. He and I were able to work on a few things together through the years. We shared many (too many to count) challenging conversations that no doubt pushed both of us on towards excellence. It was a blessing to see his work touch so many people as he shared useful tips and strategies on how to further ones music career. While he could have used that time for himself to push his own music, he instead chose to give to others first.

We’d recently started talking about doing new music and possibly helping get his album out via ILLECT Recordings. I’m sad we’ll never get to do that but plan to honor his legacy in others ways.

The most important thing to note is that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. It undoubtedly shaped his approach and character. So while I am sad at his passing, I can rejoice knowing that he’s in heaven with his Lord.

Please join us in praying for his family and friends during this time. If there are ways for us to show love to his family, we’ll update this post. Feel free to add your thoughts and condolences here on this post.

In closing, we’ll greatly miss this man. Patrick was such a great guy and I’m glad to have crossed paths with him. We love you brother!

  1. Vanessa you and Patrick surrounded me with love from the first moment I met the two of you, and when I went through my personal tragedies Patrick was always more than happy to step in whether it was walking Bosco for me, helping me move something, or helping clean the mountain of snow off my car in the mornings. He was there to offer his hand to me and always with a smile on his face. My Heart is so heavy, but I know GOD calls the best of Angels home when he needs them. Vanessa Thank You so very much for sharing him with me. I found a true brother and friend in Him, and Patrick I will forever surround your Nessa and Mathew with love…. Rest in Paradise

  2. We talked a lot on Google Talk. It was always refreshing to work out ideas and talk marketing/promotion with Patrick. We shared so much in common.

I became a father for the first time on August 30th. He was one of a handful of my peers I watched as I was preparing myself to be a dad. How much he loved Matthew and all the fun & meaningful things he did with him no doubt inspired me. It also made me a little less nervous about being a dad.

    Thank you bro!

  3. He was one of the good guys in a game filled with vapid egocentrics. Praverb’s death left me shellshocked. We spoke countless times about Hip Hop, independent music, activism and so much more. He interviewed me for his site. And I called on him for advice, like so many others… When I ran into trouble with the blogging community recently, nobody wanted to hold me down, despite my career dedication to giving back to the community — but you know who ran to come to my aid: Praverb. No surprise. This loss is tragic to the Hip Hop community, and society at large. We all lost a member of our family. DONATE TO THE FUND! http://www.gofundme.com/enr64o

  4. Patrick was one of the good guys.

Ever since he interviewed me for his blog over a year ago we’ve kept in close contact & talked about Hip Hop, marketing, business, social media, cooperation etc. at least once a week.

He helped me with promoting @HipHopGoldenAge & I tried to help him with promoting some of his blogposts. We shared experiences on online activities, but also on more personal stuff (I’m a father of a young child myself …).

I admired his energy, his positivity, his wisdom – you just knew he was ‘good people’. Seeing what’s happening now online doesn’t surprise me – obviously he had this influence on much more people than just me.

I considered him a friend & I like to think he thought the same about me. I will miss him & can hardly imagine what his closest family & loved ones must be feeling right now. My thought are with them.
