Andy Mineo Formerly Known (Reach Records)
This guy brings an impressive amount of musical diversity and talent to the table. He’s able to flex these talents on Formerly Known. You get a bit of straight up lyricism, pop rap stylings and even some impressive singing all bundled into one project. It’s a great introduction to fans for a recent signee to the Reach Records label and will surely create anticipation for his proper label debut. Beat selection is on point, concepts are developed and he holds his own amongst a stacked guest list.
A last word… We’re eager to see a return of the DJ based “mixtape” and a change in how these projects are branded. Unfortunately 2011 brought us few true mixtapes but rather quite a few impressive “street albums.”
